How we keep these numbers accurate
The list features 50 videos from 50 channels with 426.6M views in total; the average length is 1:26.
Every view, like and comment count on YouthVid comes directly from YouTube's official Data API; we never estimate or make up numbers. Figures are shortened for readability (for example 33M), and the exact count is always one click away on YouTube.
Once a day we take a snapshot of every video we track. The difference between two snapshots shows how many views a video really gained, so the ranking reflects what is growing right now, not only what is already big. Videos that are deleted or made private disappear with the next update, and no statistic is kept for more than 30 days.
Length vs. views
| Length | Videos | Avg. views | Likes / 1K views |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0:15–0:30 | 6 | 8.3M | 19.3 |
| 0:30–1:00 | 14 | 7.9M | 20.3 |
| 1:00–2:00 | 15 | 7.5M | 24.3 |
| 2:00–3:00 | 15 | 10.2M | 22.4 |
How this list works
Weekly worldwide lists are ranked by how many different countries' YouTube lists a video appeared in during the past 7 days, so every country gets one vote. Ties are broken by the best position, then by views.
Sports, news, live streams, premieres, videos longer than 3 hours, ads and videos with suspiciously low engagement for their view count are left out.
Frequently asked questions
Is YouthVid an official YouTube chart?
No. YouthVid is an independent site and is not affiliated with YouTube or Google. The lists are built from public statistics provided by the YouTube Data API.
What counts as a Short?
A vertical or square video up to 3 minutes long.
Why are there no sports, news or live streams?
Match highlights, breaking news and live streams can take over a list in a single day. Leaving them out, together with ads and videos with boosted views, keeps the list focused on what people actually choose to watch.
How often is the list updated?
Every day, with fresh view, like and comment counts from YouTube.
